Call me, because I am genuine in my work with people. I will be honest with you and let you know what I am seeing, feeling and hearing from you. Together we create a space for you to open up and I am like a guide to help you re-discover your
true authentic self.
I offer a unique approach, as I am an Ingenous woman of Cree ancestry and I weave the Teachings of my Elders into the work I do.
I have been a Psychotherapist in private practice for over twenty years, working with individuals, couples, families and women's groups. My education includes a Master's degree in psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
My focus is to help individuals heal, by becoming aware of their inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan tailored to you. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
'The Four Directions' is a concept people relate to as being part of the mental health continuum-focused on connecting Spiritual, Physical, Emotional & Intellectual parts as seen in the wheel on the left. Each direction coincides with aspects of living in balance in the world, and when one direction is out of sync it affects the other three.
After your initial call for counselling, we will set up an intake appointment to review your reasons for seeking out therapy. We work on specific goals and time frames so we can assess your progress. If appropriate, other treatment modalities may be recommended.
People often seek couples counselling when they are having difficulty with communication. I use an Emotionally Focused Therapy Model (EFT) which addresses issues that block healthy communication, with the goal to feel a deeper connection to your partner.
For military families, loss & transition is a continuous reality, due to frequent moves and postings. Families often need extra support settling in to a new area.
As well, in my work with medically releasing members, there is a need to support the family through this transition of the member's changing role.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based, integrative psychotherapy approach for the treatment of Post Traumatic brain injury. I am a Certified EMDR therapist with much success offering this form of treatment.
As a Reiki Master(Usui) I might suggest a Reiki treatment which is a non-invasive hands-on healing technique, used to clear or unblock energy imbalances in the body. Once cleared, people experience more peace and energy in their lives.
